Hallway Update

I've been trying to make the hallway look a bit nicer until we knock through the wall by the stairs which probably won't be for a while. We've got a new rug to go over the tiles. The tiles have got more dull again and I think they need some kind of sealant on them then a shiny varnish because the one I put on last time must have soaked in.

Mum and dad got us this wooden bucket from an upcycling fair and I've seen a photo on pinterest that I want to copy where they have filled it with logs and pine cones (and I might put some fairy lights in)!

I forgot to take a hoot before but I've painted the shoe cupboard with white gloss paint and changed the handles. I've painted the inside of the cupboard grey too!

Nathan bought this mirror for about £2 from a charity shop so I thought it would give a go to putting "gold" leaf on it! It was really fun to do and I quite like how it looks worn and messy so Im not going to tidy it up at all. I left the middle section with the wood showing and put the gold on either side. I had to paint on a glue and leave it to go tacky then lay the tiny sheets of gold leaf on. It was quite fiddly and there were flakes of gold flying round the garden but it didn't take very long to do! I tried to drill a hole in the wall but I can't get the hole to go in enough so I'm waiting for Nathan to get back from his weekend away to put it up in the hallway by the front door.

Back To Work!

We've had a week or so off doing jobs and now it's the bank holiday weekend were back to work! I've just been in the garden for a few hours so here is how things are looking... The rest of the weekend we're going to clear out the back bedroom so we can make a start in there with the decorating!

I dug out a corner in the garden to plant some plants I had got recently! It was hard work digging it up!! I've planted a birch tree in the middle that we got free from the Royal Welsh Show so hopefully that will grow a bit and look nice too! I've also added the plant Grandma and Grandad got me into one of the borders.

I pulled all the sweet peas out of their pot and instead planted the rose that Dad has grown from a cutting!

Dressing Room

We've pretty much finished the dressing room now! We just want a radiator cover and some boxes to go on the shelves! We've got a clothes rail each and a section t the side to hang dresses!
Nathan made the railings out of scaffolding poles which we covered in white sticky back plastic! Also we won a free full length mirror in ikea which goes really nicely in there!!

I painted a mirror we got a whole ago turquoise to go in the front bedroom with chalk paint. I got a cheaper version of Annie Sloane paint from Hobby Craft but it wasn't as good! It's come out quite good though! We've not got it on the wall yet because I need to want until the chest of drawers goes into the back room after we have decorated that!

Upppdates!

Here are some updates with what we've been  to...

I've filled in some of the cracks on the tiles with white putty. I need to stick the replacement tiles down and then give it a second clean then hopefully I can put the varnish stuff on!

Nathan's been busy sorting out the dressing room today as we had the mdf delivered yesterday! We're going to have clothes rails underneath the shelves so we might order these now we know the size we will need! The mdf isn't attached yet, Nathan's just checking the size then we're going to take them down and paint them white.

We've put a sneaky clock over where the vent used to be. Nathan filled the hole in but it was stil rough so we've put a clock over it!!

The hanging baskets are looking quite nice. I put sweet peas in them and I wasn't sure how they would look but I like them!

The Reclamation Yard!

We had a trip to the reclamation yard in Bridgend today called Theodore Sons & Daughters. I think we could have easily bought lots and we have lots of inspiration now! We will definitely be back!

I don't even know what these green faces are but I want one now on the garden!!

We got a few tiles for the hallway. We needed 1 black and 11 white ones! Unfortunately the white ones seem quite hard to find but we did get a couple. We also got some tiny tiles the same as the ones that are on the front of our house in a diamond near the roof! I'm going to see if I can dot them around instead of the white tiles it I might put them on a photo frame!

Painting The Dressing Room

We've painted the small bedroom today, the colour hasn't show on the photos very well but it's a light pinky, purpley grey! It didn't take long to do at all! Nathan has taken the vent off (from when it used to be a kitchen from the upstairs flat), he's going to seal it up a bit then we will put a clock over it!!

We got a new light and nathan changed the light switch and plug sockets.

We need to put some beading back around the edge of the floor. We've not decided whether to get a new floor. This one is Ok really but it is looking a bit well used.Nathan is planning the storage because this is the dressing room so we're going to put up shelves and rails and have the chest of drawers in there too!

New Things!

We got a new chimenea yesterday and a bench as well! :-)  Were slowly getting there with painting the fence but there's so many sections it takes about an hour per pannel!!
